Saratoga Literacy Center Race For Readers!!

The Event will be on Saturday, July 30th at 7 a.m. It is only $10 to
register and the participant can choose if they want to do a 5K or a 6 mile
bike ride.
People can go to the city website and click on the Civic Events section and
register under the Online Event Registration.

100 % of the proceeds will go to fund the new literacy center tutoring
materials. Our goal is to raise at least $500 which will allow us to
purchase the same amazing tutoring set that the Lehi Literacy Center uses
for its children. They are one of the most successful Literacy Centers in
the valley and have had huge success in helping to improve children's
reading scores and we believe that by using the same system we will have
amazing success here in Saratoga Springs.

TRUMAN blends influences from pop icon John Mayer, jazzy crooner Michael Buble, and R&B legend Stevie Wonder to develop a pop/rock/soul sound founded on powerful vocals and passionate songwriting. The brother duo- Ben and Chad Truman- has played to audiences of more than 13,000, sharing the stage with such artists as Kelly Clarkson, David Archuleta, & Josh Kelley. Saratoga's Got Talent!

Registration for “Saratoga’s Got Talent” is now available online! Click here to be taken to the registration page.

It will be held on Saturday, June 11 at 5:00pm at Saratoga Splash.

The competition will be run just like the show "America's Got Talent", meaning that all talents will compete against each other... singers, dancers, jugglers, etc. Awards will be given in age categories.

Any and all talents are welcome so be creative and let's have some fun!

The Civic Events Committee is looking for Youth 14-18 in our city that want to be volunteers in our community! They are forming a Youth Civic League that will work under the direction of the Civic Events Committee. You will help with activities the week of Saratoga Splash, June 4th-11th as well as at other activities throughout the year. The only requirements are that you live in Saratoga Springs, you are 14-18 years old and are interested in making a difference in your community! 2011 Miss Saratoga Springs Scholarship Pageant

The 2011 Miss Saratoga Springs Scholarship Pageant will be held Saturday, March 12, 2011 at 7:00 PM at the Vista Heights Middle School. Tickets are $5.00 in advance or $7.00 at the door. Tickets may be purchased online at the city website http://www.saratogaspringscity.com/ or from the contestants. Anyone entering the auditorium will require a ticket regardless of age.

This year we have 8 lovely young women vying for the title of Miss Saratoga Springs. The girls range in age from 16-21. The queen and her two attendants will earn scholarship money for college while representing the great city of Saratoga Springs.

Join us for the 2nd annual Saratoga Springs Christmas Tree Lighting. It will be Monday, November 29th at 6:30 PM at the city Christmas tree located on the East side of the city offices. Music will be provided by the Vista Heights Middle School Choir and Lakeview Academy's Musical Express. Come and kick off your Christmas season with a wonderful night of music and a visit from old St. Nick himself!

Community Cookbook

The Civic Events Committee is putting together a Community Cookbook. We are looking to get 500 recipes from citizens, businesses and community leaders. The book will be available for purchase during Saratoga Splash 2010.

To add a recipe go to http://www.typensave.com/ the contributor is your name, login is sscivicevents and the password is cookbook.

Please tell all your friends and neighbors. Recipes will be accepted through February 2010. All proceeds from the sale of this book will go toward future civic events.

HARVEST FESTIVAL

Come and join us on Saturday, October 24th from 12 until 4 PM for the city Harvest Festival.
There will be carnival booths from local PTA's and clubs. A costume contest for infants to 12 years old. A pumpkin carving contest open to everyone and a Hot Dog meal served by the Civic Events Committee for $2.50. There will also be fall portraits by Carma Gray Photography.

We regret to inform you that we are unable to have the Saratoga's Got Talent and Peter Breinholt Concert on July 11th as planned. We worked very hard to pull everything back together, but at the last minute we ran into some unexpected problems that are making it difficult to pull off. We tried finding another day that would work, but coordinating Peter Breinholt, the stage, the sound and lighting company and the park is proving to be impossible. We apologize for any inconvenience and want you to know how much we appreciate your support of this event as well as your patience with us as we have tried to make it happen even after it was rained out.

We just want to say a "BIG" thank you to all who came and supported our events during the "Splash" this year. Unfortunately the rain didn't cooperate, but we still had some great times.

Changes to Splash Schedule!!!

We had a great 5K this morning followed by police breakfast and an awesome parade!!! We had a couple of good hours at the carnival but once the rain started vendors began to leave. Due to more storms this evening we have had to cancel the rest of the night. We are so sorry, but with the rain we don't have much choice.

Schedule Changes

We have had to make a couple of changes to our schedule. First, the "Saratoga's Got Talent" competition has been moved from Tuesday night to Saturday. It will be at 5:30 at the Harvest Hills Park.

The next is we have had to cancel the Electric Lights Boat Parade. We didn't have anyone sign up. Maybe next year.

Saratoga Splash

This week kicks off our annual city celebration, the "Saratoga Splash". We had a great time this morning at the RC Park watching remote control airplanes! They were so much fun and even some of the spectators got in on a chance to fly them!! This is sure to be a big hit next year too!

The next event we have coming up is on Wed. June 10th. It's an "Outdoor Movie Night" sponsored by the Saratoga Hills HOA. It's a FREE movie with popcorn! Fun for the whole family. It is at the Saratoga Hills Park

The next night, Thursday, June 11th is our " Family Picnic in the Park". It starts at 6:30 PM at the Sunrise Meadows Park. Bring your own dinner and we'll provide dessert! There will be live entertainment, inflateables and our city's own fire dept with a truck and ambulance for the kids to see up close!

Saturday is a fun filled day starting off with a 5K at 7:30AM this will start and end at Eagle Park. Then the Police Department is cooking up a great breakfast at the Sunrise Meadows Park beginning at 8:30 AM. The parade will follow at 10:00 AM then the carnival starts at 11:00 AM at the Harvest Hills Park! A whole day of entertainment, food and fun for the whole family. The "Saratoga"s Got Talent" will be at 5:30 PM. We end the evening with a "Free Concert" featuring Peter Brienholt. Jim Huish and his band will get things going at 8:00 PM.
